About This Session?

Hypnosis for Sound of Snoring

As we begin to drift off to sleep, our ears still hear sounds around us, but our brain begins to process these sounds differently. This is referred to as the auto-symbolic effect.

The sound outside will still be heard when you drift off to sleep, but your unconscious mind will change it to represent some other sound, which you may incorporate into a dream.

Because the brain can do this, you don’t need a tranquil environment to drift off to sleep. When you can do this reliably to the sound of snoring, you’ll have mastered the problem. But there is another factor, and that has to do with how we notice the snoring sound in the first place.

There are two kinds of sounds, tonal and noise. Our conscious mind identifies the former while ignoring the latter.

People who snore often know they do and will perhaps turn over in their sleep to try and change the sound of their breathing.

When we hear something that wakes us up, our minds tend to focus on the sound and determine what it is. This is a strategy for figuring out what to focus on that can be helpful in some cases, but not this one.

If you’re not sleeping deeply enough to ignore the noise, it’s time to take action.

If you wait for your mind to wake up and then try to change the sound of your snoring, there’s a good chance you will get frustrated. In fact, you may even stop trying to change the sound because frustration becomes associated with doing it.

You may also be thinking, “I can’t sleep with my partner snoring. How will I get to sleep?” But if you practice, you will find that listening to the snoring sound becomes associated with good feelings of drifting off.

Changing the sound will become easy when you sleep deeply enough that your mind ignores the snoring noise.
